Meet the Team
AKA “Joe Berkeley,” Joe began his journey in the Bay Area at the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Architecture. After several years designing homes and developments with a major architecture firm, Joe and his wife decided to make a move to Idaho to pursue their dreams of raising a family outside of the big city. So they packed up and started having babies. Many of them.
Now, when not making early morning television appearances for St. Jude as the Ed McMahan to Larry Gebert’s Johnny, designing homes and developments or dealing with our motley crew…Joe enjoys spending his time cheering on his children at their sporting events, taking family trips and attending church. He is also an underpraised cinematic and pop culture aficionado…who mostly works out in the mornings just so he can catch-up on his favorite shows.
Probably stemming from his own traumatic experiences with a rare banana and poultry allergy, Joe is also actively involved in local health charities…specifically children’s…and serves on several boards for St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital. Additionally, since 2012, Joe has built the Boise St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Dream Home, where he has been able to facilitate the raising of millions for this worthwhile charity.
Director of Financial Operations
The purveyor of all things related to cash money at Berkeley Building Co., Heather graduated with a double-major in Mathematics and Economics, with a Minor in Statistics, from the University of Idaho. And although her first love may just be Dave Ramsey…followed by her subscription to Money Magazine…she also enjoys spending time with her four beautiful children and her husband, Joe.
Raised in an old mining town in Northern Idaho, Heather has done it all. She spent two summers packing fish in Alaska, braved the wilds of San Francisco, has survived travel adventures with her “Betty’s” and is now successfully raising a brood of charming youngsters while keeping a busy building company in the black.
Whether dropping kids off at soccer or football or baseball or basketball or Boy Scouts or church activities or…let’s face it…a working mother of four doesn’t have a lot of time to pursue personal extracurricular endeavors. But she manages to find the time to plan memorable travel adventures for her family and keep us all in line. Now if only we could remember to turn in our receipts…she’d have it all.
Director of Sales & Marketing
After an illustrious career spanning more than 20 years in all things real estate, development, building, sales and marketing…Jenna’s favorite task remains writing about herself in the third person.
Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, where she studied Business Management and held her Real Estate Broker’s license for Oregon and Washington…Jenna met a Boise boy with a pilot’s license, a drum kit, a motorcycle and the promise of a better life in Idaho. And like many career-minded women who managed to avoid marriage for as long as possible, but who have a penchant for bad-boys…she eventually accepted a ring and followed him home.
Now the mother of two stunning daughters, Jenna has adapted to Boise life despite the fact that there is still no Nordstrom. And when not spending time at the Berkeley office, attending one of her children’s many activities, or suffering through her husband’s outdoor family adventures, she spends her time advocating and fundraising for children’s medical health charities. She is also the worst at keeping receipts, is easily distracted by things that are shiny and has no chance of claiming the office push-up title.
Director of Operations
He’s Vegan. He runs. He does fitness boot camps. He even has an adopted daughter from Haiti. Basically, Matt just wakes up with the intent every morning to make the rest of us look bad. This happily married father of three has his Undergraduate in Construction Management from BSU and a Master’s in Business from Northwest Nazarene University and has many years of experience in development, project management and all aspects construction.
When Matt isn’t coming up with ways to make Berkeley Building Company run more efficiently or, in general keeping us in line, Matt can be found running in some race, on the slopes of Tamarack or on a backpacking trek with his wife, children and Labradoodle, Percy. He is the embodiment of the phrase…"Not all those who wander are lost."
Our Southern California girl from Huntington Beach has acclimated well to life in Idaho. This newlywed and mother to two dogs can often be found running on the greenbelt, hiking the foothills, riding her bike and taking advantage of all the outdoor adventures afforded to those lucky enough to call the Treasure Valley Home.
A graduate of Cal State University, Long Beach with a certificate in Interior Design from Orange Coast College, Cheryl has worked in design studios for the span of her career, helping homeowners make their design dreams come true and putting her stamp on Berkeley Building Company’s signature fresh, transitional style. She is also the only member of our office to have been on a surfing team and she may be secretly training to strip Sandy of her office push-up champion title.
Tom is a jack-of- all-trades, and as at home in his kitchen as he is out in the field. This father of two sews his children’s Halloween costumes, whips up venison curry from his hunts, homemade salsa from his garden and finds time to join Matt at morning boot camp in preparation for foot races and feats of strength competitions around the US.
This Fairfield, Idaho native is a graduate of Colorado Mesa University and journeyman plumber who owned and operated a successful plumbing business in Colorado and Idaho. Now, when not entertaining home buyers in the field with his infectious giggle or keeping all the construction balls in the air, Tom can be found fishing, camping, hiking or building something. And if ever you need anything at all, he probably has it in his truck…and if not there, he will have it in his garage.
He is probably the tallest man you will ever meet in real life. And he is so calm and collected under stress, we often have to check for a pulse. So basically, all you could dream of in a Project Manager.
This Boise-raised father of three strapping boys has been in construction his entire life. A journeyman electrician, former owner and operator of a successful construction remodeling company…and now as one of Berkeley Building Company’s expert personal builders.
When not running the show out in the field, Marc can be found coaching youth sports, pitching on the softball field, fishing, and hiking in the wilderness with his lady Rhonda and dog Bella. He also recently raced in the Pelotonia, a 50-mile bike race in Columbus, Ohio to raise money for innovative cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center–James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. We are proud to have him and his heart on our Team.
Hailing from the East Coast with a degree in Agriculture from the University of Vermont, Sandy made her way to the Treasure Valley via a long hiatus in the Alaskan wilderness as a professional Smoke Jumper. That’s right. She purposefully selected as a career to jump out of airplanes into blazing fires. Rumor has it…without even being pushed.
More recently, a busy mother to two teenagers, Sandy spends much of her time cheering on her children alongside her husband, traveling and enjoying the outdoors. And when not onsite ensuring our contractors and suppliers have delivered on their promises to build a home to our rigorous standards, Sandy can be found at the office making sure our plants are green and everyone is recycling all they can…delivering on her promise to leave her part of the world better than she found it. She also happens to be the reigning office push-up champion. Undefeated to this day.
First female BLM smoke jumper.
The beautiful smile that greets all that enter the doors of Berkeley Building Co. She is kind, she is smart, she is helpful, she is patient. She has the voice of an angel and plays just about every instrument there is. Her years as a barista while in school benefit all, and her talents as a graduate of Toni & Guy Hairdressers Academy have clearly not benefited her coworkers yet. We are all still waiting for our style make-overs Shanna. Hint…hint.
When not keeping us all on track at the office or enhancing the experience of our homeowners, Shanna and her husband are actively involved in their church community on worship teams and volunteering at youth camps. They enjoy traveling, entertaining for friends and family and are avid movie-goers. And Shanna must spend a significant amount of time decorating her always magazine-shoot worthy abode…that just happens to have been built by yours truly, Berkeley Building Co.
